Aims: The aim of the present research was to assess the occupational heat stress using WBGT and ESI indexes in OUTDOOR WORKPLACES of the Qom province as a hot-arid climate based on meteorological data.Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed based on meteorological data of the Qom meteorological stations in 2013 (from June to September). Environmental parameters including dry temperature, dry soil surface temperature, solar radiation, relative humidity and air velocity were measured every 10 minutes from 7 am to 7 pm. The WBGT index based on the formula provided by the Australian Meteorological Organization was prepared and the ESI index was calculated based on the formula proposed by Moran.Results: The mean WBGT and ESI were 27oC and 25.58oC, respectively. The maximum value of WBGT (28.59oC) was recorded between 15 pm to 16 pm and the maximum value of ESI (27.49oC) was measured between 14 and 15 pm. According to the independent sample-T-test, ESI and WBGT was significantly higher in July than its values in the other months (p<0.05).Conclusion: The weather conditions in hot seasons are not suitable for OUTDOOR WORKPLACES with heavy workloads; and the administrative and engineering control measures should be considered seriously.

Nannochloropsis oculata is an important microalgae that is valuable for hatching of marine fishes and culture of rotifer that has many applicants in marine fishes hatchery of Imam Khomeini. Our purpose was determination of growth dynamic of this microalgae in two different conditions. The study of density increasing in indoor (stock) shows that diagram of density for this species is the same as other researches but phases take a longer time. In OUTDOOR cultures at low temperature condition ( lower than optimum temperature for microalgae culture) duration of growth dynamic also take a longer time than optimum condition. Our study confirmed that this microalgae species can be cultured at winter in south of Iran (Bandar Imam Khomeini- Khozestan) is possible but in a longer period. Also, the optimum time for harvesting this microalgae cultures of conditions were studied.

Objective (s): The last evaluation of addiction conditions in Iran in 2008 showed that 70% of the addicts in Iran are employed and about 10% of them have started drug taking in their WORKPLACES. The addiction prevention program in WORKPLACES were practically piloted in 5 provinces in 2003 and generalized to the whole country from 2004. This study was carried out to evaluate the program in order to improve its implementation.Methods: This analytical descriptive research has been implemented according to health program evaluation method. Data has been collected through reviewing documents of the program history and monitoring since it was established, intensive group discussion sessions with Welfare Organization local authorities, interviewing 10 well-informed individuals, and interviewing program intermediary experts in 58 WORKPLACES. All data were classified in three general categories as achievements, challenges, and techniques to promote the program; and it was finalized in the project steering committeel, and future trends were proposed to develop and promote the program.Results: The most important achievement of the program from the viewpoint of individuals studied has been awareness and sensitivity increase in employers and employees on addiction. The secondary effect was decline in addiction in WORKPLACES and increase in productivity, absenteeism and leave reduction. The most important challenges of the program have a nearly equal contribution in all three legal-political (macro), operational- structural (middle), and cultural- behavioral (micro) domains. The most important proposed techniques to promote the program were service pack revision, preparing simple and comprehensive style sheet with all stakeholders’ incorporation, signing an agreement with employers and employees representatives, and applying encouraging methods for employers at local levels.Conclusion: Although there was inadequate periodic data to compare indicators of addiction incidence and prevalence in WORKPLACES, evaluation relied upon ideas of three stakeholders (authorities, intermediary experts, and local facilitators) who were satisfied with the program implementation and required it to be continued and amended. Long-term intervention are needed to include addiction prevention program into health promotion programs in work places and attempt to legalize them. However, in short term service pack revision of addiction prevention in WORKPLACES with incorporation of employers’ representatives, employees, workplace intermediary experts, provincial authorities; environmental rehabilitation and justification at local level and WORKPLACES, are recommended.

Introduction: Due to the spread of the new coronavirus around the world, WORKPLACES are not safe against this disease. Different guidelines have been proposed by international organizations regarding high-risk jobs and the necessity of implementing health rules in the WORKPLACES. According to the high incidence of this disease in our country, the aim of this review article was to evaluate the epidemiologic studies on prevention and control of new coronavirus in the WORKPLACES. Materials and Methods: In this study, different databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar from 2019 to 2020 and CDC, NIOSH, OSHA, and WHO instructions were evaluated. Eighteen articles and 5 instructions were selected for this review article. Results: Investigations revealed that most of occupations such as healthcare workers, waste workers, and public transportation staff are at increased risk of this disease. Conclusion: All members of the society including employers, employees and laborers should be completely ready to overcome the virus, even if the epidemic has not been spreading in that country or area. This point can be effective on the reduction of lost workdays, work absenteeism and prevent the spread of the virus in the community.

Background: Addiction is a serious concern in WORKPLACES, as it can lead to accidents, absenteeism, and loss of productivity, neglect, delay, arguing, unhappiness, production cuts, and irregular working pattern. This national survey was conducted to assess the prevalence and pattern of drug use among employees of industrial environments in Iran. Methods: In this cross sectional study, the sample size was determined to be 13489 using multistage cluster sampling method during November 2013 and November 2014. Data were collected by trained interviewers using a structured questionnaire developed by the research team. Urine drug test was done for participants using laboratory rapid kits. A total of 13 286 questionnaires were completed with remarkable responsiveness such that only 1. 2% of them were excluded due to defects in urine drug tests, and the rest were analyzed after the review. Results: The response rate to the questionnaires was 98. 4% and 13 128 individuals took the urinary drug test. Many participants who had positive urine test did not express drug use and positive tests were more than self-reported cases. Compared to information about the pattern of drug use, data on the estimated prevalence of drug use was more reliable. Conclusion: This study presents the protocol of a well-designed national survey, including sampling procedure, appropriate instrument and test, field work, and discussion on the strengths and limitations of the study, and thus its results can be used effectively by policymakers.
